LIFE GOALS

Let me start with asking the following introspective questions:

When we turned 87 years old, would we still pursue our life goals as eagerly as when we were in our early 20s, or 30s or 40s?

Or, hopefully it won't be the case, that we might still don’t know what are those important matters that we should have pursued and achieved.

If we can turn back time, would we follow the same paths, select the same choices, live with the same people, do exactly the same things, etc. or would we try to live our entire lives differently?

Earlier this week, I had a very interesting brief discussion with  Mooryati Soedibjo, 85 years old, the founder of Mustika Ratu, just minutes before she delivered her keynote speech at the LMI Women Entrepreneurs & Leadership Seminar. Ibu Mooryati who started the doctoral education a few years back when she was 78 years old, explained briefly about the importance of having worthwhile goals and the actions to pursue those goals, and we can sense the passion and desire in her.

Anthony D’Souza wrote in his book Developing The Leader Within You, Book 3 - Leading Effectively, Chapter 12, as follows: “In selecting your LIFE GOALS, do not underestimate YOUR ABILITIES. Set your TARGETS high. Make your AIM IN LIFE something that will call for THE FULLEST USE of YOUR ABILITIES, COURAGE, and PERSEVERANCE.”

Father Anthony D’Souza S.J.
is a resident of Mumbai, India, is the former Director of the Indian Social Institute, New Delhi. He is the author of several well-known books on leadership and management. This morning a friend of mine told me that  today is his 87th Birthday and guest what? He still lives the kind of life he is passionate for and active in delivering his vision.

Friends and folks,
Have you discovered your LIFE GOALS WORTH ACHIEVING?
Have you learned to make FULL USE of YOUR POTENTIALS?
Are you aware of
THE HIDDEN POWERS of your MIND and WILL?

Don’t let LIFE FORCES US TO CHANGE OUR GOALS, but we must COURAGEOUSLY SET and PURSUE OUR GOALS TO CHANGE OUR LIVES and THE LIVES OF THOSE WE LOVE.

Happy 87th Birthday and May God Bless you always, Father Anthony D’Souza.
